Introduction

RPAC-9848 is ICP DAS’s next-generation Win-GRAF Programmable Automation Controller (PAC). It adopts a quad-core Cortex-A53 processor (1.6 GHz) running the Xenomai real-time kernel to deliver high performance and deterministic real-time task control. The controller integrates multiple industrial communication protocols, including EtherCAT, OPC UA, and Modbus TCP/RTU. RPAC-9848 features a dual-controller redundant architecture to enhance system safety and stability. It can be combined with ICP DAS redundant I/O and redundant power products to build a non-stop, high-availability system according to application requirements.

Key benefits of running Win-GRAF PAC on a Linux operating system include real-time capability, high performance, and precise control—while providing a PC-like operating environment. In addition to developing control programs with Win-GRAF SoftLogic (IEC 61131-3 compliant), this PAC also supports C or C++ for data management application development. These applications can exchange data with Win-GRAF programs, making system design more convenient and practical.

The EtherCAT capability on RPAC-9848 is one of the fastest industrial networks for machine automation, enabling high-speed, reliable, and efficient data transmission over Ethernet. The EtherCAT master can update slave data in real time and supports third-party EtherCAT slave devices. An integrated web server further allows users to perform online EtherCAT configuration, diagnostics, and controller parameter settings.
